At Dr. Tara Rasta Network Spinal in Anaheim, CA we provide hypnosis therapy to help our clients become and feel like the best version of themselves.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a concentrated state of consciousness in which the body is completely relaxed but the mind is fully alert. By entering this state, a hypnotherapist is able to gain access to your subconscious mind, where the positive change and transformation you seek for yourself can begin to take place through the application of hypnotic suggestions.
Hypnosis is a fully natural state of consciousness. The truth is that we are all constantly in and out of hypnosis throughout the day. Have you ever been traveling along the interstate and realized you had missed your exit? Alternatively, have you ever become so engrossed in a movie that you forget you are in a room full of strangers, seeing a projected image of actors on screen? Possibly, you’ve lost track of time and daydreamed while someone was speaking to you. All of these are examples of people who are in a hypnotic state of mind.

This is NOT what hypnosis is.

When most people hear the word “hypnosis,” they immediately conjure up images of hypnotists commanding individuals to behave in certain ways, such as barking like a dog or clucking like a chicken. Despite the fact that this type of hypnosis does exist, it is used solely for the purposes of entertainment, such as on the stages of a Las Vegas performance.
This is a significant departure from clinical hypnotherapy. When you are in a hypnotic state, you are entirely awake and in perfect control of your mind and your body. You have the ability to hear, speak, and even walk around. Your body is in a state of relaxation and ease.

Is hypnosis a legitimate treatment option?

Absolutely. In recent years, hypnosis and hypnotherapy have gained widespread acceptance as medical therapies for a wide range of disorders and diseases, including anxiety, depression, and insomnia.

Many universities, including Stanford, Harvard, and Penn State (to mention a few), have undertaken clinical studies in hypnosis. They have discovered that hypnosis does, in fact, modify the brain and can be used to treat a wide range of diseases, including insomnia.

What is the process by which hypnotherapy works?

During hypnosis, your conscious mind has been relaxed, allowing you to go off to sleep. This enables the hypnotherapist to communicate directly with your subconscious mind during the session. The subconscious mind is similar to a computer in that it stores all of our “programming.” It is possible to “know” in your conscious mind that you want to make a change and be determined to achieve that change, but if your “computer” is programmed to continue doing what it is doing, it will be nearly impossible to create a lasting change until and until you modify your programming. That is exactly what hypnosis would achieve. When you alter the subconscious programming, your behavior changes as a result.
